Aaron's first companion, Elder Black. He is the first Elder on the left. He is from Page, AZ. I love him already! He looks like a great trainer for Aaron!

Even after a 19 hour day of traveling, they still look so happy to be missionaries! This was Elder Johnson's first night in Jacksonville. I wonder if he had already had his interview with the President and knew he was moving into a Spanish speaking mission. Maybe that explains the huge smile on his face!

Hello family!
I leave for Florida tomorrow morning! Crazy huh? I leave for the airport at three in the morning and fly out of SL at 6 so I'll probably call home in Dallas when we have layover time. The MTC has been a lot of fun and I've learned so much and I've made so many new friends it's just been all around awesome! But I am ready to leave here. I'm ready to get away from classes all day and the really weird food they have here. But more than that I'm just ready to get out and actually get to work teaching God's children about the truth that we have. I pray every day that I will be able to be strong and not afraid to talk to everyone I meet and stay working hard my whole mission. I'm really afraid of becoming lazy and not accomplish everything that I'm supposed to so please pray for me for strength and also pray for my trainer and my mission president and also for the people that I find, that I will be able to find people the Lord has been preparing to hear the gospel.
How is everything at home? How's everyone doing? Are you planning any fun vacations before school goes back in? There's so much stuff I don't know because all I get from home is usually those little cards. Not that I don't appreciate them and I love the food that comes with them but I don't know what's going on at home so please let me know! Ok well I have to go but I'l call tomorrow probably from the Dallas airport. Talk to you tomorrow!
Love,
Elder Johnson

Oh man things are going so much better here! I'm having such a great time and learning so much! I can't wait until I get to go out to Florida. I'm already more than half way done with the MTC that's so weird!
Ok I'm working on getting pictures. My camera's batteries die SO fast it's annoying so I haven't had a camera for a lot of my time here but I'm going to start taking a lot more. But I have some picutres of everyone in my district I think so I'll send those to you soon. There's Elder Taylor, Bagley, Pelo, Webb, Ninow, Upton, and Ford. They are all really great guys and our district gets along really well. Thank you for telling everyone to write me and thank you for all the stuff you have sent. It's pretty funny I have so much junk food piled on my desk in the dorms that people come over to our room at night time because they know that I will share with them so I've made a lot of friends that way. Oh actually there is one Elder next to us that I met and we figured out we played on the same basketball team in Arizona! He came to me and asked where he knew me and he said something about Ryan Kenny and I said, "Yeah he was my best friend!" His name is Elder Kenney James so that was kinda fun. Oh another cool thing that happened to me was when we went on Sunday to take pictures at the temple. My whole district went over there to take pictures and we met a family there who was also taking pictures. As we walked past we heard the mom say, "Go ahead ask them." So we stopped and waited and the kids got really shy and scared so we just asked, "would you like to take a picture with the missionaries?" They got really excited, "Yeah!" That was soo cool! Then later that night at a fireside the opening hymn was a group of little primary kids that sang I hope they call me on a mission and then we sang called to serve with them. Those two experiences alone made all of the difficult stuff I've been through here totally worth it!
I'm so glad that girls camp went well I know that you worked so hard on it. I never doubted that you would bring the spirit to those girls though you are always awesome at that. Good job!
Yeah my P day is on Tuesday and we do laundry and go to the temple today and still study a little bit. There's the firesides on Tuesday night that always have somebody pretty big come and talk. Last week we had Angel Abrea from the 70. It's pretty awesome so i'm excited for tonight. Well I miss you all send everyone my love.

Hello Mom and family!
I don't know if you got my first letter I wrote on the my first day here but things have gotten a lot better. I'm starting to get the hang of how things work around the MTC and classes and everything so I don't feel as overwhelmed. It's really weird to look in the mirror and see me in a suit with my little name badge in the morning, and having everyone call me Elder Johnson but I think my mentality is finally starting to fit the suit. I feel like a real missionary now and it's great! I'm learning so much about how to teach by the spirit and how to work really hard. Hopefully I will be able to learn all I need to know before I get out to Jacksonville. I think about home a lot and sometimes it's hard but then once I find something to read and study the spirit seems to take over and it gets easier. I still miss everyone though, and I appreciate the blessings I recieve from your prayers. Oh and please tell everyone to write me! It's sooo nice to get letters in the mail. It doesn't have to be anything great but just getting something and reading what's going on is really helpful to all of us out here. So please tell EVERYONE to write me! Especially girls ;) those are the most fun to read with the Elders in my district.
My companion, Elder Taylor, is a great guy and he is always happy even when I'm grumpy from lack of sleep or food. He really helps me to be a better missionary. Same with all of the Elders in my district. They all are just a bunch of fun guys and we all make each other laugh all day. but at the same time they are all very spiritual and knowledgeable when they need to be. There are no Sisters in our district and at first I thought that was a bad thing but when I see Sisters walking around the MTC and at the cafeteria I'm kinda glad we don't. Just because a lot of us are REALLY going to miss girls over these two years. Especially Elder Ninow, he flirts with a ton of girls it's not good so we laugh at him and give him a hard time. Anyway, I'm doing a lot better now and I'm learning a lot and working hard. Thank you for the package and tell everyone to write me!
Love,
Elder Johnson

MTC District.

Dear Mom & Dad & family,
Honestly, my first day at the MTC was not great. I'm hot in my suit. I'm confused at what I'm supposed to be doing. I'm overwhelmed with everything that's going on, it's just not been a very good day. Oh and I guess I'm missing some shots on my record so the lady gave me this pink paper. She thinks that I should have already had them but they weren't on the record I have, I don't know.
Also could you tell Nan and Stacey and anyone else my mailing address:
Elder Aaron Norman Johnson
MTC Mailbox #163
FL-JAK 0722
2005 N 900 E
Provo, UT 84604-1793
So what else? My companion's name is Elder Taylor from Taylorsville. He's a great guy, I think he's going to be a good companion. He seems to be a little less frazzled than me so hopefully he'll be able to help me out.
Don't worry too much about me, the ohter Elders here keep telling me the first few days are really overwhelming but once the orientation meetings and things are over you get more into daily life it becomes a lot easier,so I'm hoping I'll be able to calm down by then. I miss you guys, pray for me. I love you.

Love,
Aaron

(On the back of the letter)
Day #2
My second day is going much much better. The spirit here is very strong. I'm surprised now how naturally it's coming to me now. I'm going to be fine! Love you!
Love,
Aaron
